When the hot summer days come around, we start to think about getting the pool set up in the yard. Today we are going to look at the Bestway Steel Pro Frame Pool these cost a little more than the Bestway Fast Set Round Pool. However, we see why it may be worth spending that little extra on a pool that is going to last longer than 2-3 seasons.

Pool Liner
The pool liner is what you need to stand up to some rough treatment over the years; the last thing you want is to be too worried to play with the fear of ripping the liner.
Bestway steel pro frame pool series come with trademarked Tri-Tech™ constructed pool liner. This is a three-ply system two heavy-duty PVC outer layers and a single layer of core mesh.
These series have to hold a large volume of water, and this construction is more than adequate to hold back the water. Ultraviolet rays and chlorine are two other things that break down other pool liners, but you won’t have this problem with this system as it’s built with this in mind.
For even more support, Bestway has gone one step further and added reinforced rope around the base of the pool to give even more confidence.
All in all, you have a liner here that is going to stand the test of time for you are your family many years of summer fun in your backyard.
Pool Filter Pump
With all these styles of pools, they are a little let down with the pool filter, but I must say it is good they add one, unlike other models.
The 530gallon / 2,409L filter pump is a little on the small side for pools of this size. However, I do think it’s better than not having a pool pump.
If you use chemical floater to help you clean the pool, then you won’t need this as the filter has chemconnect chemical dispenser, so there is no longer a floater in the water getting it the way when you are paddling.
What is included?
The whole Bestway Fast Set Round Pool series come with the following
- Heavy Duty Pool Liner
- Heavy Duty Pool Frame
- Pool Filter Pump
- Pool Ladder (No ladders with the 12ft x 30in / 3.65m x 0.76m)
The 12ft x 30in (3.65m x 0.76m) doesn’t come with any ladders as this is small enough to step into the pool without the need of ladders.
Installation
Installation is always a worry, especially if you are not very good with DIY, but worry not; this is a straightforward system to set up.
- Find the most level part of your yard.
- Clear the ground of any undergrowth and stones.
- Place a ground cloth where you will set up the pool to protect the bottom.
- Layout the pool liner on the ground cloth.
- Follow the simple to follow manual to set up the pool frame.
To see how easy it is to set up, I have included Bestway’s Set-Up video below as sometimes it’s much better to follow a video than a manual, but ever way, this is easy to set-up pool.
Choosing the Size
When it comes to choosing the pool size, it always leads to confusion for most, but I will do my best to give you an idea of what will best suit you and your family.
The 12ft x 30in / 3.65m x 0.76m and the 12ft x 48in / 3.65m x 1.22m are both the same size apart from the depth, and you will find they are only suitable for 3 to 4 people.
Also, with the 12ft x 30in (3.65m x 0.76m) only being 30in / 0.76m deep, so you won’t be able to swim it this one, not even tiny kids, the 12ft x 48in / 3.65m x 1.22m being 48in / 1.22m will just be deep enough for small kids to have a little swim but with very little room for others when swimming.
The next two pools 15ft x 48in 4.57m x 1.22m and 18ft x 48in 5.49m x 1.22m are both much deeper than the two smaller pools and are much better if you have adults and older kids. You should be able to fit 6 to 7 adults in these two pools with some space for all to move around.
How Much Water?
Something to also consider is the amount of water it takes to fill the pool; the difference between the 12ft / 3.65m and the 15ft / 4.57m is only 3ft / 0.92m. However, there is a large difference in water it takes to fill the pool.
12ft x 48in (3.65m x 1.22m) – Water capacity 12,310L / 2,708 Gallons
15ft x 48in (4.57m x 1.22m) – Water capacity 20,002L / 4,400 Gallons
So as you can see above, not much difference in size but nearly double the amount of water than the next size down, it’s the same between the 15f and the 18f models.
Filling the pool is going to take a lot longer, of course, but maybe more importantly, the cost of keeping more water clean is going to cost more as you will need more pool chemicals.
Pool chemicals are not all that expensive but worth considering when you come to choose your model of choice.
Conclusion
I have tried my best to cover everything that you need to think about when it comes to buying one of the Bestway Steel Pro Frame Pools.
These are a great starter pool to see how you are going to get along with a backyard pool before buying something more expensive, and they will last you many years to trail a backyard pool out.
So if you are looking to see what it takes to care for a backyard pool before upgrading or just want a well-built pool that’s not too expensive, then this is a perfect choice.
